After many grey hairs, kicks in the rear and nights of using my sweat to fuel my gas lamp (the heat has become intolerable lately ) I managed to get my submission in to the [link] 2008 Calendar for my theme of The Month of the Serpent.
First off - yes, there are only YEARS of the Snake as far as I have been told but in this regard, the different animals were assigned to hopefully corresponding months and I got The Serpent...which was exciting and it bent my mind thinking up something So it was a month for each Zodiac Year.
Initially, I unfortunately got bogged down with problems at home and realignments that had to be done, and I only managed to get this piece completed 2 weeks into January after spending 90% of my work leave working on this. Then, to crown it all - my tablet packed up on me after 4 years. So I apologize to those that have had to wait for my submission.
After alot of ideas, I had to narrow myself down to what I would be able to complete in my given time, so I settled on a character I thought up whilst getting info about people born under the Snake...I was attracted to the elegant, mystic, wise, secretive and possessive aspects that I saw. It conjured up the idea of a mage-like character residing in his sanctuary, relaxing after studying his many grimoires and rituals.
Again, something quite new for me as even with my Voidstrider, whilst it was coloured, it didn't exactly feature a complicated background - I thought this would be the ideal time to experiment with something like that and what can I say...why stop now, time for more of my attempts at colouring
Gotta love babies in jars.

Now, this is something quite different from you! the style, more fantasy just made me wow... The detail of the smoke and pipe are excellent. Very dreamy place!
Mah mother is serpent btw, lolz XD
A new update from an amazing artist!

Very sleek stuff boet, diggin' the little details like the snake-smoke (or 'smake' for short! 8B), runes in the ceiling, an' the little goblin thingy on the crystals.
That's a helluva 'garden' he's got there, looks like one step off the path could be rather fatal. 8T
Thanks dude! - yup yup, quite different indeed and its a cool thing to be able to get the chance to deviate from what I'm used to. I was born an Ox...how boring eh :/

Nice and eerie. I like the mood of this one. Something you might find in a Tolkien book. I love the smokey snake from the pipe and those boots, I want some.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
