Note: Yes, I know...what an unimaginative title. Believe me, I feel the same way about it but I will change it when something mindbreakingly awesome comes to mind.

This is 75% of the cause of why I've been so quiet on DeviantArt as of the past few months - I've been doing some "commissions" for a teacher at my old school, and now I'm glad to say I can actually post them (finally).

This is the first of the 4 pieces I made...what it entailed was taking some superheroes of the teacher's choice and drawing them in my interpretation plus a little more darkness thrown into the equation. The original piece is A3 and it took me quite a while to complete each one of them due to work constraints as well as sorting out things at home (I actually finished the final piece half way through August...after that I spent all this time trying to find someone with an A3 Scanner!).

I must admit, its been a long time since I've drawn anything to the scale of A0 or similar, so getting back into the groove of drawing big was weird. I felt that only towards the end, I may have gotten used to it again (finally).
I can't say I know too much about the Hulk nor am I the biggest of fans, but that I felt, is where the challenge really lay. At the end of it all, I enjoyed drawing this piece a hell of alot and I was satisfied with the result (phew, compared to my pre-lim sketches, it looks like a different piece :D)

I was given alot of leeway within the interpretation of the character, so I added antagonists that didn't feature in the comic and were more of something I made up (but not to distract from the main character design). I was aiming for a "Hulk escaping from his imprisonment within an experimental scientific laboratory". I'll leave the rest up to interpretation ;)

Hope you enjoy!

P.S. I usually do post my works up at a significantly higher image size, but since these are pieces that were given to someone else, he has asked that I don't submit them "in an exploitable size". Come to my house if you want to see the real deal ;)

HULK SMASH!

wow, just wow. There's so much detail, my brain wants to cut itself...and that's a good thing.(I think)

I love the 'ragdoll'guy with his little broken arm! That's awesome!

And I got the feel of the picture and what you were trying to portray, [and you did succeed - I don't need to even tell you that]even before I read the description.

Cool man. Can't wait to see the other drawings.

PS: Hulk-pants are awesome, don't you think? They know just where and where not to tear.

Some of the anatomy is slightly off... You need to have a look at the muscles joining the chest to his sides, to his arms.

The foreshortening at his right knee isn't very convincing either.

I like his facial expressions, and I like the pose. Nice job on the shackles and wire hole things.

Hey dude - I appreciate the feedback!
I know what you mean about the anatomy...to be totally honest, I fluffed it up even more on my prelims, so I had to sort out alot when it came to the final....I found it pretty tricky trying to get that arm connecting right, but still keeping that "potatos in a sack" muscle look.

Any tips on whats making my right knee foreshortening unconvincing?

Thanks again for the compliments and the crits man!

I defeated LadyHisoka in a battle of logics and I won a Honourary Block from her page! I must be such a lousier!

LOL Liza, thanks for all the compliments! Even saying that your brain goes emo because of my art :D

Hulk pants - I tried thinking of something else for him to wear that would be applicable for the scenario, but it seemed hulk pants it was! Atleast these ones don't turn purple when he gets angry ;)
And the hair! I had to drop the bowl hair cut - I don't like that.

WB. :D

Wow. I love the detail in this one. Focus points that really stand out to me is the awesome work on the crumped-up walls and the lights (Sirens?)

I like it a bit darker, as The Hulk seems out of place sometimes in an all Friendly non-PG world. LOL!

Can't wait for the rest.

Really, really nice pic. The detail is amazing as usual. There just one thing about his anantomy that look a little off. His left arm looks spiffing but the way his right arms muscles connect are wrong.
His pec should fold upwards more, connect into his shoulder mucles and his bycep should connect under the shoulder and pec muscle.
Hope you can make sens out of that :P

Looking forward to seeing the rest. :)

Sure, just tell me the address and I'll see when I can fly over there.

If you swang his right hip 'round a little more and made it higher, it'd be more convincing that it was lifted up and bent to reach rubble-height. Kneecaps are a pain to do, especially when they're so large like here. Try to find some reference for them.
